Full course description
This session is meant to give strategies to teachers who want to reach those students who are quieter, so that everyone can give daily input. The primary strategy involves using sign language as a tool for communication with the teacher as well as peers. By getting more communication with more students, the teacher gains a greater understanding of the pulse of the whole class opposed to the outspoken few. So, the teacher can shift the direction of the class depending on the needs and opinions of all students. Sign language also has its benefits in retention--by associating a sign with a new skill or vocabulary word, the students have more ways of remembering the content.
